Year 1

There are two parallel classes in both Year 1 and Year 2. The staff in each year group plan the curriculum together ensuring that there is equality of opportunity for all children, and continuity and progression across the Key Stage.

We place a strong emphasis upon a whole school approach to assessment and record keeping allowing us to monitor the curriculum closely.

The children are taught by whole class, group and individual teaching methods, enabling us to provide a broad and balanced curriculum. For English and Mathematics the children follow the Government's recommendation for the National Literacy Strategy, and those proposed for the National Numeracy Strategy. Science, ICT, Religious Education and the foundation subjects of Physical Education, Music, History, Geography and Art are taught following the National Curriculum Guidelines for Key Stage 1. Delivery of much of the Curriculum is through carefully chosen topics.

We have policy statements on each curriculum area, which are available in the school office.
Classrooms are well equipped and each year group has 6 computers, an Interactive White Board, multimedia CD's and a variety of computer software.
